Ich bin mal wieder beim Stöbern in den XBMC Dateien über die wunderschönen Icons von Foood gestolpert.

Dort finden sich nicht nur schöne Icon-Sets für XP, sondern auch Mac & Linux, sowie einige ThemeBars für z.b. Mozilla Firefox oder andere Toolbars. Leider verlangt der Autor eine Zustimmung zur Verwendung, bei der Qualität der Icons ist das aber verständlich.

Ein sicherlich sehr gutes Tool zum Bearbeiten und Verwenden von Icons dürfte der Axialis Iconworkshop sein, der einige konkurrenzlose Features bietet.

Leider ist das Tool nicht umsonst sondern kostet $110, bietet aber sicherlich einige interessante und nürzliche Hilfestellungen um alten oder schnell erstellten Code zu verbessern.

Und wieder ein Addon für Visual Studio .Net 2003. ReSharper bietet erweiterte Navigationsfunktionen (from a usage of a method to its declaration, from a method in a base class or interface to its implementation and back, and from a variable to its type), CodeAssistenten die schneller Hilfe zur Verfügung stellen als das integrierte Intellisense und LiveTemplates, sowie erweitertes Highlighting für Felder, lokale Variablen, Klassen und mehr.

Sicherlich einen Blick wert...

Auf OSWD gibt es eine ganze Reihe recht netter, freier Designs für viele Anwendungsfälle, kategorisiert nach verwendeten W3C Standards (HTML, XHTML, etc.).

Da kann man sicher auch problemlos das ein oder andere Template als Anregung zur Gestaltung von dasBlog Themes verwenden.

Thanks to a tip from Michael Earls there is now a nice new control under my blogroll... :)

And i always wondered how i could extend dasBlog with my own controls... so simple... shame on me...

Just open the file "homeTemplate.blogtemplate" from the folder themes\%YOUR-THEME-NAME% in your web server root where you have installed dasBlog and insert <%newtelligence.aspnetcontrol("<yourcontrol>.ascx")%> where you want to put your control.

BTW: The theme changer is a control too. (<%newtelligence.aspnetcontrol("themebar.ascx")%>

Using RSS Bandit from Multiple Computers

RSS Bandit now has rich support for synchronization across multiple computers (version 1.2.0.112 and greater). This comes in very handy when you use RSS Bandit on multiple computers such as from work and home.

Why is this useful?
After a full day of work in which you spend some of that time reading feeds, it is a bit of an annoyance to come home and have to wade through all the items that you've already read to find the few new items you haven't yet read since you left work.

Now with the latest version of RSS Bandit, you simply Upload Feeds before leaving and Download Feeds when you get home and your home RSS Bandit will have the same state (more or less) that RSS Bandit at work does.

Set configuration under Tools-> Options -> Remote Storage:

The Web Service URL should be something along the lines of http://yourblog.com/dasblog/ConfigEditingService.asmx. Enter your user name and password into the User Name and Password fields.

Once you've selected a protocol that will work for you (here dasBlog) simply upload your feeds when you're done using RSS Bandit on one computer and download feeds when you begin to use it on another computer. You'll be in synchronirvana!

How cool is that

I started with a few categories, but soon they added up to a real mess. Here is how you can structure your dasBlog posts with nested categories:

If you post via the web frontend, there is a inputbox for new categories to create. Type in there your nested category name like so: News|Political or News|Financial. Please note the | character to be used as the category hierarchy delimiter.

To get them all displayed, each category must contain at least one post. So if you have a nested category named Financial|News, both should contain one post.

That means: you also need a category named only Financial with one post in addition to Financial|News with one post. It might be preferable to add both categories Financial (main) and Financial|News (sub) to your entries so that they show up under the Financial category view as well as the Financial|News category view.

However, since many RSS Aggregators only display the first category in their UI, this may not have the desired result (example: RSSBandit would only display Financial, and not Financial and Financial|News.

I checked this with RSSBandit, the newer version (1.2.0.112) seems to display both (main, sub) categories correct.

All i have to do now is to reorganize my categories, which is very annoing with the current handling of categories in dasBlog. If there is any better way than going through all my posts changing categories and update, let me know...

Since Version 1.6 there is an easier CrossPosting configuration - when creating a new cross post site, you can autofill the blog info by entering your blog URL and selecting the blog software the server is running. Info is then autofilled easing configuration.

There is also a "Load Blogs" button, that loads all blogs using the given server info, and allows you to select the one you want to crosspost to.

The autofill function sets the endpoint to blogger.aspx for dasBlog Blogs, so endpoint seems to mean blogging-API.

The Load Blogs Feature doesn´t work for me.

I have to further investigate how to do this...

Das offizielle Google-Blog nutzt seinen eigenen Blogdienst Blogger.

The World as Blog ! mit der verzögerung von ca. 1.Minute erscheint auf der Weltkarte, wo gerade wer etwas gebloggt hat. Leider sind nur ~13 % aller Blogs mit GeoURL Daten versehen. Mein Blog seit heute auch und jetzt hoffe ich, dass ich nachdem ich mit diesem Eintrag und den nötigen Ping zu weblogs.com, mich selber auf der “Worldmap” aufblinken sehe !  Der letzte Eintrag im Blog taucht übrigens als kompletter Text mit Title/Description auf... ganz nett.

Dazu kann man jetzt auch gleich noch mit dem GeoURL Button nachsehen wer so um einen rum auch am bloggen ist
